Do you know the effects of stress on the skin?
The effects of stress on the entire organism are well known, and the skin does not escape from this terrible evil.
- Stress increases the production of cortisol, which in turn increases the production of oil from the skin, all of which lead to a greater likelihood of clogged pores and acne.
- Stress can also make skin problems worse, such as psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema. It can also cause hives and other types of skin rashes.
- Due to the tension in the face, we can expect crow's feet in the corners of the eyes, fine lines on the forehead from frowning, blemishes on the skin, and dark circles under the eyes from lack of rest.
- Another consequence of stress on our skin is that it becomes dehydrated, nutrients do not reach certain areas of the body and that causes sagging. As a consequence of this, the skin dries, fats evaporate and it can also become red due to different problems related to inflammatory disease.
- Decreased luminosity of the skin. It occurs because blood flow slows down (as the heart pumps more blood to cope with the situation that causes stress). This causes the nutrients to leave the skin of the face to be located in the muscles that we will need to fight what generates tension.
To reverse these damages, we must try to live a healthy life, try to put the little problems aside, start sleeping more hours and abandon bad habits such as thinking about work in spare time, complemented with a healthy diet and exercise.
