Face hygiene tips

Here are some expert tips to take care of your skin

Wash your face twice a day with a gentle, foam-free cleanser. This will help remove dirt, oil, and other impurities from your skin. Cleansing the skin of the face in the morning is essential because while we sleep, bacteria, dirt and sweat particles accumulate on our skin and can clog the pores, making the face lose its healthy appearance, in addition to facilitating the appearance of acne and other inflammatory conditions.

By the same token, even if you do not use makeup, it is very important to cleanse the skin before going to sleep, since the face is in constant contact with environmental pollution, UV rays from the sun, and sweat, among others.

Avoid harsh, alcohol-based toners. These can dry out the skin and disrupt its natural pH balance. Instead, opt for a toner that is formulated with natural, skin-loving ingredients like rosewater or aloe vera.

Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This will help remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reveal a brighter, smoother complexion. Just be sure to use a gentle, chemical-free exfoliator to avoid irritation.

Always remove your makeup before going to bed. Leaving makeup on overnight can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

Use a facial mask once or twice a week. A good facial mask can help nourish and revitalize the skin, leaving it looking healthy and radiant.

Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy, balanced diet. Proper hydration and nutrition are key to maintaining healthy, glowing skin.

Protect your skin from the sun. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day and reapply every two hours when you are outside.

Errors to avoid

Don’t rub the face

When drying, dermatologists point out that it should be done delicately, caressing the face, never rubbing it, since in cases of acne it can be counterproductive. In addition, special care must be taken with the eyes since the skin of the eyelids is the most delicate of the body.

Don’t use the same towel you use for your body

There is no point in religiously cleaning your face if you then dry it with a germ-ridden towel. You should never use the same towel you use for other parts of your body.

For people who suffer from acne, they should avoid using towels to prevent possible infections. In this case, single-use tissues that gently absorb water are recommended, without the need to scrub and therefore scratch the skin.

Don’t forget to moisturize your face

Right after cleansing the skin is in its best condition to be hydrated, since it will be prepared to absorb the active ingredients of serums and moisturizing creams.

Don’t wash with hot water

Using hot water for facial hygiene can cause dehydration and removes the natural oils that protect our skin, causing dryness and increased sebum production, in addition to favoring the appearance of redness, irritation, and eczema.

For the best results, dermatologists recommend using lukewarm water, since cold water could dry out the skin too much and produce constriction of the blood vessels that supply the skin.

Avoid excessive washing

Washing your face constantly throughout the day can be detrimental for your skin as it alters the pH balance and the natural oils that keep water inside.
